Hi Brian,

I hope you are doing well. We talked last year about the 2015 Summer Engineering Experience for High School Students with Visual Impairments or Blindness. I would consider our pilot year a success, as summed up by the following news story:

http://www.twcnews.com/nc/triangle-sandhills/news/2015/07/24/ncsu-hosting-engineering-camp-for-visually-impaired.html

I'm excited to announce that we are offering the camp again this year. Here is the basic info:

Opportunity: 2016 Summer Engineering Experience for Rising 10th - 12th grade Students with Visual Impairments or Blindness

Dates: June 19 - June 24, 2016

Application: http://go.ncsu.edu/2016experience

The North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) Transition Program provides Pre-Employment Transition Services to North Carolina students that have visual impairment, blindness or deaf-blindness to assist them in reaching their goals of independence and competitive employment. As a part of this program, students are often assigned a Transition Counselor in their area to assist them in preparing for the world of work. In the past, DSB has been able to sponsor, as a part of a comprehensive program of vocational rehabilitation services, student participation in the Engineering Camp for Students with VIB at the NCSU College of Engineering . DSB plans on supporting qualified students for this program as well. Through this program, students have gained a lot of insight and experience that will help them in any career they choose to pursue. To obtain more information about the Transition Program through Services for the Blind and their support of the Engineering Camp for Students with VIB at the NCSU College of Engineering , please contact Avis Chandler, DSB-VR Specialist for Transition at (919)527-6754 or avis.chandler at dhhs.nc.gov for more information.

Please feel free to share this information to anyone you think will be interested. I am trying to get it out to as many list serves as possible. Thanks!

-Leyf
